Over several years I documented a homeless community to raise money and awareness for a shelter supporting an ever increasing population in need. These women are like you and me. Many once had jobs and purpose, warm beds to sleep in. They have children, partners, have been lawyers and engineers, whether through mental illness, addiction, abuse, financial crisis or family breakdowns they are unsupported and struggling. It’s not the easiest of environments to get an intimate portrait however intention is powerful and mine was always to see them to hear their stories and bear witness to their grace and dignity. As the number of unsheltered people rises all across the globe, their faces and voices are an important mirror on society today.
